Salim Bayri

Salim Bayri (1992, Casablanca) has recently finished a residency at the Rijksakademie.

Salim’s fascination with translation and mistranslation extends to the materials and systems of representation he uses. Moving seamlessly between digital imagery and tangible materials, he seeks to provoque collisions of meanings.

For Het Langhuis, he builds a scale model loosely based on the exhibition building and imagines an artist’s impression of its interior where its inhabitants had to suddenly leave. Salim lives mostly in Amsterdam and leaves the kingdoms when borders and visas allow.
